Our Club History
Welcome to the Arizona Republic Reader's Choice 2015 "Best New Home Master Planned Community"! The origins of Prescott Lakes began in 1997 with a vision to bring a championship golf course to the mile-high surroundings of Prescott Arizona, with majestic views of the Granite Dells, Willow Lake, Granite Mountain, Thumb Butte and the snow-capped San Francisco peaks in the distance.
Like many other private clubs across the country, our Club experienced financial difficulties during the economic downturn of 2009 - membership declined, and the course was closed in early 2010. A determined set of residents, led by Dave Hackathorn and Dave Otto, spearheaded a drive that led the Prescott Lakes Community Association to take an ownership position with the Club to preserve the value for local residents.
The Prescott Lakes Community Association found a willing partner in Arnold Palmer Golf Management (APGM), who each agreed to take a 50% ownership interest in the Club, as well as APGM becoming the Managing Partner for the Club. Together, this partnership negotiated with the Prescott Lakes developer to transfer ownership of the golf course and athletic center to the new entity and then reopened the Club with expanded membership.
The partnership with APGM gives our members access to the broad network of APGM managed facilities across the country, as well as access to the experienced management to operate our Club. The Club has operated profitably since 2011 to the benefit of the Prescott Lakes residents.
The Club at Prescott Lakes is a non-equity club that is open to membership to both Prescott Lakes residents as well as non-residents. Today, the Club enjoys over 1,400 resident athletic members, as well as a full complement of 400 resident and non-resident golf members.
The Clubhouse was completed in 2012 and our Athletic Center was constructed in 2004. As an expansion of the Athletic Center, in 2020 an expansive aerobics building was completed. These facilities are the hub of member social and recreational activities within the community. We believe that no other club in our areas offers this full set of amenities so close in proximity to the entertainment center of Prescott and with houses priced for any budget.
We are very proud that Prescott Lakes has been recognized as the AZ Republic Readers Choice Planned New Home Community of the Year”.
